Principal Business Analyst - Charles River

This position is expected to provide expert CRD functional knowledge with the ability to configure and maintain all areas of a CRD environment, preferably V17+ including extensive use of MWB. The incumbent is expected to have expert business knowledge with in-depth understanding of the trading lifecycle and portfolio management techniques, they are also expected to have good SQL coding skills. The incumbent will work closely with the current CRD team in Baltimore as well as the trading and investment personnel in London and APAC under the supervision of the CRD Engineering manager in London. A self-starter, responsible for acting as the primary interface between technology infrastructure and a specific business/functional area. Incumbents help define business requirements, create application and process specifications, coordinate with delivery teams, and ensure that work is prioritized by business value and in alignment with the overarching business and technical strategies. May have dual reporting relationship to technology and to business/functional unit management. Incumbents may be involved in the writing of technical documentation/materials.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of security type modernisation project in CRD
  • Management of junior BAs
  • Accomplished at presenting and delivering to senior stakeholders
  • Working closely with London trading and portfolio management business
  • Delivering best practice solutions for CRD environment
  • Helping to deliver on putting CRD back in its box
  • Managing 3rd party consultants
  • 3rd line CRD support during UK business hours
  • Performance tuning CRD – queries, blotters, MWB
  • Working closely with global BA teams
  • Utilizes a high level of business/technical expertise to support the technical, analytical, and quantitative needs of one or more business units
  • Has detailed understanding of the business unit’s strategy and combines that with
  • technical expertise in order to identify business needs and to recommend and implement sophisticated solutions
  • Serves as a gatekeeper for complex projects application development and enhancements using his or her understanding of how different products and systems are related, in order to prioritize issues and solutions, negotiate and consult with impacted parties, and oversees the software development life cycle through to implementation/resolution
  • Acts as a change lead for a lean-agile mind-set adoption and ensures organizational agility
  • Sets the expectations for analyst practices and ensures they are known and adhered to within the area
  • Works with key business stakeholders to design or transform a key business function or a specific business domain
  • Works on the firm’s most important or complex initiatives that typically have impact on large numbers of associates, business functions, or growth areas for the firm

Required Skills:

  • Substantial professional experience working with CRD V9+.
  • Ability to build and configure a new CRD system including MWB and New MWB.
  • Experience working in a global team.
  • Experience working in an agile environment.
  • Expert knowledge of derivatives and derivative lifecycle a major plus.
  • SQL knowledge and comfortable writing triggers, procs, functions, queries.
  • Demonstrated advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to meet with clients of varying levels to gather, document, and analyse system specifications and requirements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others in team environment.
  • Possesses expert level of business, product and/or system knowledge.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience working in front office tech teams in the Financial Services Industry.

  • Coding skills Java, C#.
