Gillian has a development background as prior to setting-up McCabe & Barton, she worked in the City for over 18 years. Following a Mathematics Degree, Gillian's career evolved from development roles within Treasury and Bullion IT N.M. Rothschild, to Equities and global Treasury IT responsibility at Citibank, to head of Treasury IT at BZW before ending her city career as Chief Administration Officer for NatWest Global Financial Markets in North America (managing a department of over 200 people). In her career in the City, Gillian had to recruit for many IT roles - both in her own department and for other teams and departments.
Caroline has worked in IT recruitment since 1998, she joined McCabe and Barton in 2001. Caroline works in the Senior IT team and is responsible for a broad variety of roles at Director level and above across the Financial markets. Caroline is a Psychology graduate from the University of Hull.
A graduate from Exeter University, Russell Barton has been recruiting senior IT and banking professionals for the financial marketplace since 1995. Prior to his recruitment career, Russell worked for Learning Tree international - a major IT training company - and before setting-up McCabe & Barton, Russell created and ran a Senior IT recruitment Division for a Financial Markets recruitment company.
Darren has been placing mid-senior level financial markets technologists on a retained and contingency basis since February 1994 and is responsible for managing several of our key Preferred Supplier relationships with leading Investment Banks, Asset Managers, FinTech and consultancy organisations.
He specialises in placing contract and perm (mostly D/ED level) Programme/Project Managers, Business/Technology Architects and Blockchain SME’s. Darren has a BA (Joint Hons) Degree in Business Studies and Geography from the University of Kent at Canterbury and is an avid fan of live music and England Rugby.
Claire McGee is a senior recruiter specialising on development roles across the Financial Markets. Over the last 5 years Claire has helped a range of Investment Banks, hedge funds and alternative financial organisations across the City recruit software engineers from graduate up to VP level. After 4 years within a large City recruitment firm, Claire moved to McCabe & Barton in 2009 and is focused on delivering strong technical candidates to clients across the financial markets.
Justin has been working in recruitment since 1997. He began his career working for clients in the City, providing contract and permanent IT consultants to the investment banking and asset management industries. He then spent 7 years working across the Central and Eastern European region providing technical and functional specialists to core banking system implementations. Justin joined McCabe and Barton in a 360 recruitment role in December 2015. He will be focussing once again on the City market, whilst keeping in contact with his CEE network. In his spare time, he’s a keen squash player, cook, and follower of Quins and England rugby.
Lucy started in recruitment in 1999. Throughout her career Lucy has focused on recruiting contract and permanent technologists at all levels for Investment Banks, Asset/Wealth Managers and Clearing Houses across London and Europe. Lucy joined McCabe & Barton in May 2012 to deliver Business Analysts/Project Managers and Change Management professionals to the financial services industry.
Neil started his career in recruitment in 2006 after spending 13 years working in the banking industry. Neil’s strengths include building strong, long standing relationships across his client and candidate network. He focuses on placing mid-senior level Technology and Business Change professionals on a contract and permanent basis into the Banking and Asset Management industries.
Nic grew up in Geneva and he has spent most of his adult life living and working in London within recruitment. He did a 3 year stint working between Geneva and Zurich where he set up the recruitment branch for his previous company with excellent success. Nic’s background is pure IT from technical developers, legacy systems, more modern technology all the way through to BA’s PM’s, Transformation, Change, Risk & Compliance experts all over Europe. Nic is keen on keeping fit, loves playing and watching most sports and is enjoying his new role as a husband and lately as a father since May 2015.
Sara has worked in recruitment since 2008 and has a strong and rounded background, having experience of recruiting mid to senior level financial services professionals in both an in-house and external recruitment capacity. Specialising in Risk Management, Quantitative Analytics and more recently Compliance, her clients are a broad range of Financial Services institutions and consultancies.
Steve has 30 plus years’ global financial services IT and Operations executive recruitment experience, the past twenty years of which has primarily focused upon executive search. Many of his earliest business relationships Steve still retains and he has managed to build an extensive global contact network. He can demonstrate a consistent track record of recruiting high calibre senior executive talent on behalf of blue chip buy side and sell side clients in London, Paris and New York. His experience includes both leading IT Executive Search practices at premier financial markets recruitment firms as well as successfully establishing and managing his own executive search businesses. Steve has a BA Honours Degree in International History & Politics from Leeds University.
Joao has experience recruiting IT professionals in both contract and permanent positions across Europe, mainly in the software development area. After 3.5 years at an agency working solely on contract roles in the European financial services market (non-UK based), he has joined us to work on our Development desk. Joao works with clients across the financial market and with candidates who have strong development skills that are looking to work with companies in Investment Banking, Asset Management and the Fintech space.
Amita graduated in 2011 from Middlesex University in BSc Money, Banking and Finance and then went travelling to Asia for a couple of months. Before joining McCabe and Barton in 2014, Amita had prior IT recruitment experience within Financial Services in contract and permanent.
Rebecca graduated in 2012 from the University of Leeds with a BA in Environmental Management. Before joining McCabe and Barton in 2015 Rebecca worked in Australia for an Engineering recruitment company where she was in charge of the Office staffing and IT sectors.

Freddy has experience recruiting IT professionals in both contract and permanent positions across the UK Software Development markets. After 2.5 years within agency working Permanent and Contract roles in the UK, he has joined us to work on our Development desk. Freddy works with clients across the financial market and with candidates who have strong development skills that are looking to work with companies in Investment Banking, Asset Management and the Fintech space.
Mariya graduated The American University of Paris in 2013 with a BA in International and Comparative Politics. Before joining McCabe and Barton in January 2018, Mariya worked for a London-based recruitment company, specializing in IT recruitment, with focus on Java technologies.
John graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2012 with a 2:1 English degree, and spent a year working for the National Careers Service in Liverpool before moving to McCabe and Barton in September 2013 as a trainee recruitment consultant. John is focused on supporting both the contract and permanent team in headhunting Business Analysts, Project Managers and Programme Managers in the financial markets.
Catherine joined McCabe & Barton in late 2016 and is supporting the consultants in sourcing candidates for a variety of technology roles. Catherine has previous experience in childcare and property recruitment. Her interests include travel, music and food.
A graduate with a degree in business studies, Janet joined McCabe & Barton in August 2010 in the role of financial controller. Prior to joining McCabe & Barton, Janet worked for more than twenty years in finance in the retail sector and for the Health Service.
Bernadette joined McCabe & Barton to take over as Office Manager in late 2013. She previously spent over ten years at the BBC in corporate affairs and more recently worked in the film industry casting feature films.
Harry joined McCabe & Barton in December 2013 as an Administrative Assistant. Prior to this, Harry worked for a Business Consultancy for 15 months after finishing his A-Levels. Harry’s role involves anything from Contractor Care to IT Support.
