Gillian McCabe

Director

Gillian has a development background as prior to setting-up McCabe & Barton, she worked in the City for over 18 years. Following a Mathematics Degree, Gillian’s career evolved from development roles within Treasury and Bullion IT N.M. Rothschild, to Equities and global Treasury IT responsibility at Citibank, to head of Treasury IT at BZW before ending her city career as Chief Administration Officer for NatWest Global Financial Markets in North America (managing a department of over 200 people). In her career in the City, Gillian had to recruit for many IT roles – both in her own department and for other teams and departments.

Caroline Goldie

Director

Caroline has worked in IT recruitment since 1998, she joined McCabe and Barton in 2001. Caroline works in the Senior IT team and is responsible for a broad variety of roles at Director level and above across the Financial markets. Caroline is a Psychology graduate from the University of Hull.

Darren Ball

Director

Darren has been placing mid-senior level financial markets technologists on a retained and contingency basis since February 1994 and is responsible for managing several of our key Preferred Supplier relationships with leading Investment Banks, Asset Managers, FinTech and consultancy organisations. He specialises in placing contract and perm (mostly D/ED level) Programme/Project Managers, Business/Technology Architects and Blockchain SME’s. Darren has a BA (Joint Hons) Degree in Business Studies and Geography from the University of Kent at Canterbury and is an avid fan of live music and England Rugby.

Fiona Eddy

Director

Fiona is an established Business Change and Technology Director with 20 years interim and permanent recruitment experience across multiple industries including Banking, Insurance, Consultancy and FinTech.

Fiona and her team provide flexible, cost effective and experienced consultants for clients who historically would have engaged with traditional management consulting practices to execute change and IT transformation programmes.

Fiona understands the technology and change talent market inside and out and has a strong reputation of forging robust relationships and delivering successful hires at all levels from CIO’s, Programme Managers, Business Analysts, Architects and Developers.

Much of her career has been spent advising clients on their recruitment strategies, hiring and career advice.

Outside of McCabe & Barton, Fiona enjoys travelling and spends quality time with her two boys, dogs, and husband.

Steve Clayton

Principal Consultant

Steve’s primary responsibility at McCabe & Barton is as Executive Search and Business Development Lead. His 30 plus years’ global financial services IT and Operations executive recruitment experience spans a period of significant change from the deregulation of financial markets in the mid 80’s through to the current all-pervasive digital revolution. During his four decades in recruitment Steve has managed to build an extensive global contact network, forged of long-term, deep relationships and shared goals. He can demonstrate a consistent track record of recruiting high calibre C-Level and senior executive talent on behalf of global financial services clients in London, Paris and New York. He has successfully led both IT executive search Practices on behalf of premier financial services recruitment firms as well as managed his own executive search businesses. Steve has a BA Honours Degree in International History & Politics from Leeds University.

Ben Gentle

Senior Consultant

Ben has come from a business background having started his career in retail management working for the John Lewis Partnership, as well as spending five years running his own business. Ben joined McCabe & Barton in 2018 to work alongside Darren Ball recruiting mid-senior level financial market technologists, on a permanent and contract basis. When not at work, Ben enjoys going to the gym and travelling.

Justin Frankum

Senior Consultant

Justin has been working in recruitment since 1997. He began his career working for clients in the City, providing contract and permanent IT consultants to the investment banking and asset management industries. He then spent 7 years working across the Central and Eastern European region providing technical and functional specialists to core banking system implementations. Justin joined McCabe and Barton in December 2015 and has since been focussed on senior contract and permanent recruitment in the technology transformation space, across both private and public sectors. This has included a number of retained search assignments for central government departments and agencies. In his spare time, he’s a keen squash player, cook, and follower of Quins and England rugby.

Ben Cassel

Consultant

I am an accomplished Senior Technical Recruitment Professional with eight successful years delivering talent for a range of sectors that include Financial Services, Telco, Consultancies, Media, Software Houses and Security Services. My recruitment experience has predominately been focused on UK markets but I have also been involved with a number of recruitment drives across Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific. I have demonstrated an ability to build strong and lasting relationships with a broad range of external and internal stakeholders as well as communicating complex information across a broad audience. I am passionate about delivering results and I am always committed to continuous improvement.

I have a genuine interest in technology and how it innovates businesses.  I love talking to clients about new programmes or initiatives they are commencing then going to market to headhunt specialists to ensure the successful delivery of the programme.

Tim Nott

Consultant

Tim is a Recruitment Consultant with 14 years of experience working across industries such as Insurance, Law Firms & Financial Services. He provides a range of technical and non-technical recruitment solutions, supporting businesses in navigating their changing IT landscape. His experience spans areas like DevOps, Architecture, Infrastructure, Data Science, Cybersecurity, and Project Management. Tim values building strong relationships with clients and candidates, mentoring junior consultants, and working collaboratively to meet recruitment needs.

Outside of work, he enjoys playing Rugby for a rural Kent team and spending time outdoors with his dog.

Emilie Fleming

Delivery Consultant

Emilie joined McCabe & Barton in 2022 to work alongside Darren Ball recruiting mid-senior level financial market technologists on a permanent and contract basis. Previously she worked as a recruitment resourcer in 2020 for a care company. Prior to working in recruitment, Emilie graduated with a Ba (hons) at Guildford School of Acting in 2013 and worked as a theatre actor in London. She also taught BA / MFA level music and singing at LAMDA and worked for several years in direct sales for UK based Startups.

In her spare time Emilie enjoys writing, painting, playing football and going to the theatre.

Le Nguyen

Delivery Consultant

Le has been working in recruitment since 2017 for contract and permanent positions with clients from IT, Telecom, Banking & Finance. At McCabe and Barton, she has focused on all levels of Developers for Investment Management and Fintech clients. Le loves travelling and cooking. Her signature dishes are Pho (Viet noodle soup) and Chicken lemongrass Banh mi (baguettes)

Nicola Roche

Delivery Consultant

Nicola joined McCabe & Barton in 2024 to work alongside Fiona Eddy, recruiting across Technology and Transformation. Nicola graduated with an MSc in Marketing and Management from University College Cork. She has also studied classical voice with the Royal Irish Academy of Music, achieving Grade 6. After graduating, Nicola worked in Australia as a Sales Development Representative for an e-learning company.

In her spare time, Nicola enjoys travelling, music, and art.

Bernadette Gepheart

Office Manager

Bernadette joined McCabe & Barton as Office Manager in late 2013 having previously worked in BBC Corporate Affairs for 10 years and in the film industry casting feature films. Her responsibilities include contractor care and office maintenance.
